HAMILTON is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. HAMILTON’s score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway. HAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton.
ATNY Cast review of Hamilton:
As a person who goes to Broadway shows regularly, I have to say that this is the most amazing piece of theater I have ever seen, and I mean every word.
This show is edgy, fresh, engaging and honest. The music is catchy, smart and energetic while keeping a familiarity in the tune that makes you immediately relate to the character who sings it. The actors are beyond talented; I do not think that there is a single weak link in that cast, from Lin-Manuel Miranda (who plays Alexander Hamilton) to the newest member of the ensemble.
The portrayal of these real-life events, tragedies and triumphs is not limited to an all American audience. Its storytelling is so engaging that, even those audience members who are not familiar with the birth of this Nation can find themselves rooting for the Revolutionaries and Federalists.
Hamilton has become, without a doubt, a modern classic and crowd favorite securing its position at the Richard Rodgers Theater for many seasons to come.
